Indian Captain Virat Kohli failed to open his account in the second Twenty20 international against Australia in Guwahati which turned out to be his first-ever duck in the T20Is. Kohli played 47 innings in 51 matches without getting out on zero in the shortest format of the game.
Playing only his second T20I game, Aussie pacer Jason Behrendorff has done which no other bowler able to do so in the past, dismissing Kohli for a duck in his 48th innings.
Before Virat Kohli, it was Pakistani batsman Shoaib Malik who held the record of taking most number of innings (40) to get out on duck in the Twenty20 cricket.
Behrendorff destroyed indian top-order before the hosts were bundled out for 118. He ended with dream figures of four for 21 in four overs. The 27-year-old pacer swung the ball both ways on a helping pitch with Rohit Sharma (8), Shikhar Dhawan (2) and Kohli (0) among his wickets. It was the first international game played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium and the packed crowd was in for a shock after Rohit Sharma hit two fours in the opening over bowled by Behrendorff.
He showed remarkable maturity to bounce back from those two boundaries to trap Rohit plumb in front with an inswinger.
Virat Kohli departed two balls later after getting a faint inside edge while attempting a flick and the looping ball was caught by none other than the left-arm pacer.
